After a couple of weeks off, we’re back with the news of the day!
First up, if you live in the LA/OC area and have commonsense (I know, we’re few and far between) you should go sign this petition to stop the high-speed rail (haha) in California. California is broke, so let’s spend $98 BILLION more on a train to nowhere. Makes sense. (According to this story, this train project might be doomed anyway, but still.)
Speaking of being broke, it seems that Democrats finally learned what a budget is. But I think we should still probably give away cigarettes on EBT cards, since we have money to burn (see what I did there?). Anyone who disagrees gets fired!

This is one of the funniest stories I’ve read all week. Read it and laugh heartily at other’s expense – trust me, you better take your giggles where you can. Oh, wait, one more – speaking of giggles, you should also read Iowa Hawk Blog’s response to “Julia” – which made me snort coffee out my nose. SO GOOD.
In conclusion, say a prayer for Colorado. We’ve had some scary run-ins with wildfires here in California, and my heart goes out to these folks.
